June 2014

I have officially been flying with my company for over 6 months and I am still loving it. I have over 300 multi engine hours now and will soon be upgraded to captain on our company aircraft. Life has been crazy to say the least but I still encourage you to post any questions to the blog! I will get to them as quickly as I can. More updates and stories to come!

From Student Pilot to Corporate Pilot in Less than 2 Years.

Here is my timeline of how I did my training and how you can do yours! Remember, I did all of my training outside of a university while getting an online degree through Utah Valley University.

June 2012: Started Private Flying lessons. Went everyday sometimes twice a day for almost the whole summer.
Sept 2012: Private License complete at 51 hours.
Oct 2012: Instrument training
Winter 2012: Minor setback due to weather and financial reasons.
Spring 2013: Instrument training
Early Summer 2013: Instrument check ride at 200 hours
Summer 2013: Internships and commercial flight training.
October 2013: Commercial multi and single check ride on same day
November 2013: Applied at MANY companies.
December 2013: One of my summer internships turned into a full time flying position!

Throughout my training I worked as a ramp/gate agent for Cape Air airlines. This helped me save money for more time building and multi engine opportunities. The aviation job market is growing and all indications say it will continue to grow into the near future.

Update: Happy New Year!

Hello everyone and happy 2014! Once again the past few months have been crazy busy for me. I had a few airline interviews set up in the midwest (small regional airlines) and applied at just about every flying company possible. As of January 1,  I officially am a pilot for a corporate company in northern Missouri! Needless to say I couldn't be more excited about my new job! I will post details and tips about my job search in the aviation industry!

Commercial Checkride

Its been a long time...

Well it has been almost a year since I last posted on the blog. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am officially a commercial pilot! So much has changed since I first started flying a year ago. I will post details on how I got my instrument as well as single and multi-engine licenses! I will be putting a new story up everyday for the next week or so. I hope my experiences can help those going through training!
